Rajasthan tour packages are the easiest way to see India’s “Land of Kings”: a chain of fort-topped cities, golden desert dunes and lake palaces that are hard to stitch together on your own. A good package handles the long drives, the hotels and the guides, so you spend your days at the monuments instead of at ticket counters.
This guide explains what a Rajasthan tour package normally includes, compares the most common itineraries (from 3 days to 10 days), shows what each city is known for, and gives you a checklist for comparing offers before you pay. It is based on the private, chauffeur-driven trips we run from Delhi.
What does a Rajasthan tour package include?
Packages differ from company to company, so read the inclusions list line by line. A complete private Rajasthan tour package usually covers:
- A private air-conditioned car and chauffeur for the whole route, including fuel, tolls, parking, state permits and the driver’s allowance.
- Hotels in every city, normally with breakfast. Heritage havelis and palace hotels are common in Rajasthan, and the category you choose is the biggest factor in the price.
- Sightseeing with a licensed guide at the major forts and palaces.
- Signature experiences such as a camel safari at the Sam Sand Dunes or a sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola in Udaipur.
- Airport or station transfers at the start and end of the trip.
Items that are usually not included are flights, monument entry tickets, most lunches and dinners, personal expenses and tips. In our own Rajasthan package, for example, monument tickets are paid separately at the official rate.
Popular Rajasthan tour package itineraries
3 to 4 days: Jaipur and nearby
Short on time? Jaipur alone fills two full days with Amber Fort, the City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar, and a third day can add Pushkar or a stepwell visit. It is also an easy add-on to Delhi and Agra. Our Jaipur tour package guide has day-by-day plans.
5 to 6 days: the Golden Triangle
Delhi, Agra and Jaipur make the classic first-time route and the quickest way to sample Rajasthan. Our Royal Golden Triangle Tour runs 5 nights / 6 days and starts from ₹14,999 per person, with a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal and a ride up to Amber Fort.
7 to 8 days: Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur
The most balanced Rajasthan itinerary: the Pink City, the Blue City and the City of Lakes. Expect two long drives of around five to six hours each, which is why some travellers fly back to Delhi from Udaipur instead of driving.
10 days: the full royal circuit
Our Grand Rajasthan Royalty & Desert Haveli Expedition (9 nights / 10 days, from ₹28,500 per person) covers Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Ranakpur and Udaipur. It includes a night in a Swiss-style tent in the Thar Desert, a camel safari at Sam Sand Dunes and a private sunset boat cruise on Lake Pichola. The route day by day:
| Day | Plan |
|---|---|
| 1 | Arrive in Jaipur, evening at Birla Temple and Chokhi Dhani |
| 2 | Forts and palaces of Jaipur |
| 3 | Holy Pushkar, then drive to Jodhpur |
| 4 | Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and the Blue City lanes |
| 5 | Jodhpur to the golden fort of Jaisalmer |
| 6 | Living fort of Jaisalmer, Sam Sand Dunes and desert camping |
| 7 | Desert sunrise, then Ranakpur and on to Udaipur |
| 8 | Udaipur City Palace and Saheliyon Ki Bari |
| 9 | Lake Pichola boat cruise and Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace |
| 10 | Udaipur farewell and airport departure |

How much does a Rajasthan tour package cost?
There is no single price. Cost depends on five things: the number of nights, the hotel category (budget, heritage or luxury), the vehicle, the season, and how many travellers share the car. Peak months (November to February) and festival dates cost more, while April to September is usually cheaper.
As a reference point, our 10-day Rajasthan tour starts from ₹28,500 per person and our 6-day Golden Triangle from ₹14,999 per person. These are starting rates for a private tour; the final quote depends on your dates and hotels. Use the form on this page for a free, itemised quote.
Private tour or group tour?
We run private tours only. Here is how the two styles compare:
- Private tour: you set the pace, stop for photos, change plans on the go and travel only with your own group. It suits families, couples and anyone who dislikes fixed schedules. The cost per person is higher for solo travellers.
- Group tour: usually cheaper, with a fixed schedule and a shared vehicle. Stops are timed for the group, so there is little room to linger.
When is the best time to book a Rajasthan package?
October to March is the best season: days are warm and dry, and desert nights are cool. April to June is very hot, and July to September is monsoon season, which turns Udaipur green but can disrupt desert and safari plans. Our month-by-month guide to visiting Rajasthan has the details. For November to February, book a month or two ahead because hotels in Udaipur and Jaisalmer fill quickly.
How to choose the right Rajasthan tour package
Before you pay for any package, check these seven points:
- Is the route realistic? More than five or six hours of driving a day leaves little time for sightseeing.
- Read inclusions and exclusions. Look for tolls, permits, driver allowance, entry tickets and meals.
- Ask for hotel names, not just “4-star”.
- Confirm the guides are licensed or government-approved at the major monuments.
- Check the vehicle and driver: a private, GPS-monitored car with a vetted chauffeur.
- Get cancellation and payment terms in writing.
- Read recent reviews from travellers who took the same route. You can see ours on the reviews page.
